Rutger de Bruijn is founder and CEO of NexusNovus, Chief Operating Officer at NXT International Advisory and a leading international entrepreneur specializing in business opportunities in India. Mr. de Bruijn’s expertise is advising European firms on entering or developing the Indian market; he has successfully consulted for hundreds of satisfied clients.

Mr. de Bruijn’s expertise is advising European firms on entering or developing the Indian market; he has successfully consulted for hundreds of satisfied clients.

Mr. de Bruijn also utilizes his extensive knowledge of the Indian market and strong government relations to serve as liaison for the Waste2Value Consortium, a public-private partnership of governments and technology providers in the Netherlands and India that offers sustainable waste management solutions and a realistic path to Zero Waste. He has worked with senior government officials from both India and the Netherlands and lobbied for important changes in waste management rules and regulations in India to better protect the environment in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision on Swachh Bharat (clean India).

A holder of master’s degrees in medicine and management and a speaker of six languages, Mr. de Bruijn provides strategic, marketing and financial perspectives to his consulting and deal-making activities. His broad range of industry expertise includes waste management, medical and pharmaceuticals, energy, technology and water.

Mr. de Bruijn’s business success has been built on the foundation of an outstanding academic career. While pursuing a degree in biomedical science at Leiden University, he was encouraged by his professor to study medicine as well. Within just one year Mr. de Bruijn accomplished the remarkable feat of completing years one and two of medicine and year three of biomedical science. He received a score of 9/10 from his Supervisor for his medicine thesis on the topic of stem cells.

In addition to his ambitious academic agenda at University, Mr. de Bruijn made it a priority to serve as Chairman of two major committees at his Society and work three side jobs (including selling his biomedical science and medicine summaries to his peers, and a prestigious student assistant position), all while competing in high-level athletics.

Following his graduation from Leiden, Mr. de Bruijn attended the elite Nyenrode Business University, where he obtained a Master’s in Business Administration degree. His thesis evaluating the potential value and financial risks of a new type-2 diabetes preventive treatment was awarded a score of 9/10. Mr. de Bruijn was selected best student in the class and awarded a study trip to India, sponsored by Tata Consultancy Services.

Mr. de Bruijn founded NexusNovus in 2007 and built a strong pan-India delivery network which has satisfied scores of clients with consultancy services, business support and production support across numerous industry segments. Through his sense of customer commitment, values, and dedication, Mr. de Bruijn made NexusNovus the number one consultancy firm for Dutch SMEs wishing to enter the Indian market. In early 2015, NexusNovus established a joint venture partnership with Netherlands-based Trade & Investment Center (TIC), a global provider of business development solutions, to form the NXT Group of Companies. NXT has offices in the Netherlands, India and Turkey.

The recently formed subsidiary, NexusNovus Capital, focuses on mergers & acquisitions in the field of waste management, extending the service portfolio already established in this segment; NexusNovus Capital has won several tenders in the waste management sector. NexusNovus Capital also creates structured triple-A investment opportunities in the waste-to-energy segment, ready for equity investments.

Previously, Mr. de Bruijn was Executive Board Member of The Netherlands India Business Council (NCH), which focuses on trade and investment opportunities between the Netherlands and India; and Director of The Netherlands Indian Business Platform, which provides Dutch entrepreneurs with expertise regarding potential opportunities in the Indian market.
